Stuff I Like

1. Make Your Mark Bud Light

We've all been there at a crowded house party, a backyard BBQ, or an office event...we put down our beer for a split second and then can never figure out which one is ours.  That's why I LOVE these new Bud Light bottles!  Gone are the days of misplacing your beer once you scratch your name into the label.  Personally, I prefer going for a grownup arts and crafts vibe and drawing a little picture, but maybe that's just me.

2. Nature Valley Granola Bars

I've been trying to incorporate more fruits and veggies into my diet lately...while delicious, they are not the most filling.  This is where Nature Valley Granola Bars come in!  I keep a box at home and a couple bars stashed away in my desk at work.  They make a perfect healthy yet filling snack!

3. Old Navy 5" Shorts
I've said it before, but I'm a tall girl.  And with these long legs finding good shorts is always a huge problem!  They either ride way up (not comfortable) or are so skimpy I feel like my business is hanging all out (indecent).  That's why I'm loving these Old Navy 5" Shorts!  They're super comfortable, cover everything, but aren't so long that they make me feel like a boy or old lady haha.

4. The Bloggess
I adore The Bloggess.  Homegirl writes some of the funniest posts I've ever read.  Her recent post about Beyonce the big metal chicken had me seriously laughing out loud.

5. HBO Go

HBO Go is probably the best thing that has ever happened to me.  I now have access to on demand tv programming and movies anywhere there is internet.  And guess what?  As long as you're an HBO subscriber....it's free!  Perhaps the best part about HBO Go is that they're posting the True Blood episodes a week in advance!!  That's right...I've already seen episode 2...and it was cray cray!

House Bitch

Waaaaay back in October I blogged about the House Bitch.  My coworker and her roommates developed this amazing idea as a way to avoid fighting over chores and other household responsibilities.  Well my friends, I am finally in possession of a copy of the House Bitch Rules.

I am a huge fan of the House Bitch concept.  If you live with people who are not the best about doing chores or maintaining a clean apartment, it's a great way to make sure everything gets done!

So what do you think?  Is it a good way to divvy up chores or will it leave someone feeling resentful for a whole week?

Packing Nightmares

It's Monday and I'm still recovering from a weekend full of house parties.  Gods and Monsters anyone?  With a DJ and a photographer?  Can we say GREATEST HOUSE PARTY EVER?

The birthday boy looking like one hot Bridezilla
I think that picture says is all.  While I'm recovering, I'm attempting to pack for beach weekend with the girls!  I've been told I'm not allowed to over pack, which is why I'm starting so early.  I laid out all my outfits on my bed before putting them into my suitcase....and then kept laying out more outfits...and more outfits....and more outfits.

My luggage hasn't quite reached this point yet but it's getting close
Beach vacations are tough to pack for!  I need an outfit for the beach, something to wear to dinner, and then an outfit to go out in.  Completely reasonable right?  RIGHT!?

I'm curious, what are your packing habits?  Do you pack in advance or leave it all to the last minute?  Do you over or under pack?  And if you're a light packer...do you have any advice for this blogger?

Have you all seen the website Animals Being Dicks?  I can't remember a website that's made me laugh so hard!  Here are a few of my favorites:

Confessions of a Micromanager

via

I am a planner...and not just a normal planner...I tend to micromanage every detail of my schedule.  I know exactly what time I need to wake up in order to fit in making a lunch, breakfast, and sipping my coffee while reading blogs before heading to work.  Before my week starts, I know exactly what nights I'll be working out, grocery shopping, and watching my trashy reality tv shows.

On top of all these little details, I CANNOT STAND being bored.  The little planner in me fills her weekends up 2-3 weeks in advance and my week night dinners and happy hours are absolutely planned AT LEAST a week ahead of time.

I think it all stems from 4 years of undergrad when I was taking a full course load, working 2 jobs, and participating in a bunch of student orgs.  I had to schedule every minute of my life in order to fit everything in.

For me, this part of my personality is a good thing.  It keeps me productive and I'm never bored.  If I find there's an upcoming weekend where I don't have something to do, I have no problem picking up the paper, seeing what free concerts or new museum exhibits have opened, and going by myself.  I just need to be constantly doing.

However, I can tell it does frustrate some of my friends.  On Tuesday, some friends were trying to make plans for happy hour.  I had to tell them that I already had plans every night this week and almost every night next week.  Sometimes I worry they think I'm making excuses not to hang out but I'm not.  I'm just keeping busy.

How do you approach your schedule?  Are you a planner or are you more of a spontaneous type?  Do you think scheduling your time in advance is a good thing or a bad thing?

Stuff I Like

Before I begin this post, a few people left comments on yesterday's post asking where my purse is from.  It's from Dooney & Bourke and it's their Large Nina bag.  They have it in a TON of colors.  Happy shopping!

1. Wildfox Couture

I just can't get enough of Wildfox Couture's oversized t-shirts.  They're cozy and effortlessly stylish.  I LIVE in their Gossip Sucks tee.  It's great for lounging in while getting a mani/pedi or wearing while running around the city doing Saturday afternoon errands.

2. My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding

Has anyone else tuned into My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding yet?  HOLY HOT MESS!  I have never seen such absurd dresses and ridiculous ceremonies before in my life.  I watch it in a mixture of shock and horror.  Some of these girls are in their late teens...NOT OK!

3. Clean Sheets

via
Over the weekend I washed all of my bedding...I'm talking throw pillows and everything...and I had one of the best sleeps of my life!  I'm not sure why, but sleeping on freshly cleaned sheets is just one of those simple pleasures...nothing beats it!

4. Retro Bathing Suits

I have been completely enamored with all the retro inspired bathing suits they've been showing this summer!  I love how adorable and feminine they are.  I'm a huge girlie girl and much prefer these styles to the in your face sexy swim suits.  I've been buying these styles up like crazy!

5. Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Muffins

I made these bad boys over the weekend and it was an excellent life decision.  They're sweet but are tiny enough to keep you from feeling guilty.  I've been eating them for breakfast with a big side of fruit or as an after dinner treat.  Find the recipe here.

What's In My Purse?

I've seen a lot of other bloggers do this post (most recently the lovely Megan at A Suitcase and Stilettos) and I thought it be a fun way to share a little more about myself.  So without further ado...what's in my purse!

My bag

All the technology I lug around: iPod, Kindle (with it's Vera Bradley case), cell phone,  and usually my camera if I hadn't been using it to take the pictures!

Keys with a Barcelona key chain, matching wallet, pink pens

Revlon lipsticks/gloss combination (think I have enough of them!?), Kiehl's lip balm, Curel hand cream, barrettes

Mints, allergy medicine (it's tough this time of year!), loose change (I always have a ton of this), and Splenda (you never know when you're going to need a little more in your coffee)

My purse contents aren't quite as impressive as Megan's but I think I've got all the essentials in there!  What do you always carry with you?

Weekend Wrap Up

I had the most perfect weekend full of friends, sun, and relaxing!

Friday
Ora and I went out on a Scoutmob fueled happy hour extravaganza!  If you're not on Scoutmob...click here and sign up immediately!  They have deals in cities all over the US and you don't have to pay anything in advance.  Just click on the daily deal and you will soon be enjoying 50% off at restaurants, spas, and boutiques all over your city!  It's amazing how many more things you can afford to do when you have these coupons.

Our first stop was Little Town where they only serve beers from NY breweries.  I was in the mood for something fruity so I tried the Blue Point Blueberry Ale, the Ithaca Apricot, and the Saranac Pomegranate. The Apricot was probably the most delicious beer I've ever had in my life.  If you find your self at Little Town, I highly recommend giving it a try!

How cute is the label!?
We then meandered over to SideBar.  I didn't like it as much as Little Town, but we had another half off coupon and it was right next door.  Howeve20 the highlight of the night was after leaving SideBar...we wandered over to CREPEAWAY!

Crepeaway is a DC staple and eating there was like a little taste of home.  It's excellent late night food when you're feeling a little tipsy or great for lunch!  We originally had every intention of going home after our snack but instead, we headed over to the Red Lion for a little bit of dancing and a live cover band.  Perfect perfect Friday night!

Saturday and Sunday
I did a whole lot of this....

...and it was absolutely glorious.

Did anyone else get their tan on this weekend?

Father's Day/Rink Bar

"My daddy raised girls who can drive a stick, shoot a gun, and beat you up" -Misery Loves Cabernet

Well maybe not the first two but my daddy definitely raised girls who go after what they want, stand up for themselves, and know to call him when something's broken since he can fix things waaaay better than we ever could haha.  Happy Father's Day Dad!

The picture of my dad and I is from my parents' visit last weekend when we had drinks at Rink Bar.  Which brings us to...

9. Have cocktails at Rink Bar

This is one of my favorite NYC spots for an outdoor drink.  Rink Bar is located at Rockefeller Center, in the exact spot where the ice skating rink is during the winter...clever huh?  The cocktails are a little pricey but they're all so exotic and delicious.  I highly recommend one of their many varieties of alcoholic lemonade.  If you're looking to save a little money they also have great happy hour deals, like Watermelon Wednesdays, where all watermelon cocktails are $8!

Stuff I Like

1. Bean and Grain Salad

I don't know about you, but I've had a crazy busy week.  Between the concert, going away parties, and a busy work schedule, I haven't had time for much else.  The big batch of bean and grain salad I made earlier this week has been a life saver when it comes to finding time to cook!  I've been stuffing it in pitas for lunch, using it for omelette filling in the morning, and if you dice up a little chicken and mix it in, it's the perfect dinner!  A big thank you to Rachel at California Pretty for sharing the recipe.

2. Frames

It was pretty rainy and miserable in NYC last weekend so a few of us got our bowl on at Frames.  We had a blast!  The space itself is great with a spacious bowling area, restaurant, bar, and lounge.  While you're bowling they play ridiculous remixes of 90s songs and have contests like "the next person to bowl a strike gets a free shot".  I haven't been bowling in years but I beat everyone by 50 points!  The guys weren't too happy about that haha.  The only down side of Frames, is that it is a little bit expensive.  We only went because my roommate had won 2 free hours of bowling during a previous trip.  If you're planning on going, I recommend checking out their blog for specials or booking your lane online for a 20% discount.

3. Donnie Wahlberg

I promise this is the last NKOTB or BSB related post/tweet/facebook status I'll make you suffer through for a while haha.  But HOT DAMN is Donnie Wahlberg looking good!  He is one of the few men who can look badass in a bedazzled Red Sox hat and that my friends, is a skill.

4. Keeping Up With the Kardashians

I'll admit, instead of watching the NBA Finals on Sunday, I was glued to the Kardashians.  I'm iffy about this season since Kim annoys the hell out of me and I think they'll be focusing a lot on her engagement.  I tune in for the Kourtney and Scott drama and the greatest celebrity to ever grace reality TV, Bruce Jenner.  That man is hilarious without even trying to be!  Sometimes, I wish they'd get rid of all the Kardashians and just make it the Bruce Jenner Show.

5. Two Tone Mani-Pedis

I'm not big on matchy matchy mani-pedis.  Lately, I've been opting for two shades of the same color with the darker on my toes.  It keeps you looking coordinated but makes your look a little more exciting. At the moment I'm rocking lavender finger nails and raspberry colored toes.  What color combinations are your favorites?
