Stuff I Like

1. Lilly Dresses

Dolly Dress
Franco Dress
I bought my first two Lilly Pulitzer dresses from Rue La La and I love them!  They both fit like a glove and you can't beat the fact that buying them on Rue La La means they were half off.  I will definitely be rocking the first one at the office and the second one at brunch in the near future.  Any other Lilly fans out there?  Have you ever ordered their dresses on Rue La La?

2. George Foreman Grill Sponges

I cook on my George Foreman A LOT.  When you're cooking for one, it's a quick and easy way to whip up some dinner after work.  If you have a George Foreman, you will know that cleaning it is torture.  No matter how hard you scrub, it seems like that grill is never going to get clean.  One of my coworkers came to my rescue and gave me two of these Grill Sponges.  The design gets right into all the grooves and makes cleaning it a breeze!  Seriously, if you have a George Foreman, go order yourself some of these.  You won't regret it.

3. Capitol Deal

I'm always looking for a good deal and The Capitol Deal is one of my favorite sites to use.  Instead of your typical $25 for $50 worth of food, they offer deals like $15 for a brunch entree and a bottomless mimosa or $25 for a dinner entree and bottomless wine, beer, or rail cocktails.  JBunny and I used one of the dinner deals at Station 4 on Monday and it was very well worth it.  If you live in the DC area, I recommend taking advantage of the site.

4. The Angel's Game

Carlos Ruiz Zafon's The Shadow of the Wind has always been one of my favorite books.  My cousin sent it to me while I was living in Barcelona and I loved losing myself in a story about the city I was falling in love with.  I don't know why it took me four years, but I'm finally reading the prequel, The Angel's Game (ok, well I know why...I had grand ambitions of reading the Spanish language edition but never seemed to have the patience).  The writing is absolutely beautiful and it's almost painful to put the book down and continue on with my day.  The English translation of the third and final installment of the trilogy, Prisoner of Heaven, is being released on July 17th and I will definitely not be waiting four years to read it!

5. Rob Base "Joy & Pain"

I have a Return of the Mack Pandora's fine...stop judging me...and it's always playing throw back 90s hits.  This week, Rob Bases's "Joy & Pain" came on.  I totally forgot that 1) this song existed and 2) how catchy it is.  Rob Base apparently performed at Celebrate Fairfax a few weeks ago and I am seriously bummed I didn't go.  They had a Legends of HipHop concert with him, Digital Underground (The Humpty Dance), Young MC (Bust A Move), and DJ Kool (Let Me Clear My Throat).  To make things even more epic, Flava Flav hosted it.  I'm seriously kicking myself for not being sounds completely up my alley.

iPod Cases

I can be cheap about certain things...a new Lilly dress?  I'll take two.  $12 cocktails at Lincoln?  I'll take three.  Venti Iced coffees from Starbucks?  Yes please!  But, my six year old iPod cases that is literally falling apart at the seams?  No, I definitely don't need to spend the money to replace that.

Well friends, I think I've finally come to terms with the fact that it has got to go.  I mean, look at this thing:

I'm having trouble deciding what to replace it with though.  There's the Vera Bradley Tech Case but it's not convenient to change songs when your iPod is zipped up inside something.

Then there are the Shades cases but with a black iPod the colors are going to appear drab.

There are so many fun cases out there for iPhones so it's a little disappointing that similar options don't exist for iPods.  Does anyone have any suggestions for good iPod cases or an opinion on the two above?

Weekend Wrap Up

via Yelp
As always, we spent Friday night at Murphy's.  After a very long work week, a night out with friends was just what I needed!  We brought a few newbies with us on Friday and it was fun to see them enjoy our favorite bar almost as much as we do.

Bonding with the Tuesday night division.
Saturday was our end of the season bocce cookout at Yards Park.  First of all, if you haven't been to Yards Park before, check it out next time you're at Nats Stadium.  It's right behind the ballpark and it's a cute little the fountains and wading pools are a great way to cool off on a hot day!

The party itself was a blast!  There weren't many people from our league there so we befriended a group from the Tuesday night division.  We played a few rounds of Chandelier (except our version was a little more fun than the one I linked to.  We a) used a pingpong ball instead of a quarter...quarters have germs y'all and b) instead of having a beer chugging contest when someone hit the middle cup, we played a round of flip cup) and listened to White Ford Bronco.

via Yelp
Sadly, the beer at the cookout ran out before we were ready to call it a night.  Instead, we headed over to RFD for some pizza burgers, crab stuffed pretzels, and summer shandies.  It was the perfect ending to a fun afternoon!

Speaking of's not too late to register for the summer season.  Sign up here!

After spending the majority of the day poolside, I did a little cooking.  Michelle at Making Sense of Cents recently shared Jackie at Domestic Fits recipe for Orzo Caprese in Tomato Cups.  The recipe is delicious and I'm looking forward to bringing it for lunch this week!  The only change I've made is not serving it in tomato cups.  Since there are already tomatoes in the Orzo itself, the tomato cups were a little too much tomato for me.

Nail Files

The Nail Files

While I'm not the biggest fan of the Kardashians, this week I've been rocking Follow Me on Glitter from the Kardashian Kolor collection.

The polish is great!  One of my biggest pet peeves about glitter polishes is how they usually need three or four coats before your nails are completely covered.  With Follow Me on Glitter, I only needed two coats.  I also found it chips a lot less than some other glitter polishes.

Have you tried any of the celebrity lines for Nicole by OPI?  I've tried both the Justin Bieber (no judging...his Make U Smile glitter makes a great accent to a mani) and Kardashian collections and I was a fan of the quality of both.

Stuff I Like

1. Iced Tea Lemonade K Cups

Yesterday I discovered these amazing Iced Tea Lemonade K Cups at our office and I am officially in love.  I confess, I made it through 24 years of life without ever having an Iced Tea Lemonade (shocking, right!?) and my coworkers thoroughly made fun of how excited I was about this drink.  It's definitely going to be my go to afternoon treat this summer!

2. Liam and Me-Lives We Might Have Lived

I have been waiting for Liam and Me's Lives We Might Have Lived to be released since, much to my parents' dismay, we started running around the East Coast with them over summer 2007 (I feel like this might merit a blog post of its own in the near future...).  The album finally dropped this week and I haven't stopped listening to it since (I'm currently working my way through it for the 5th time's fine).  They've got a fun poppy sound and I can't help but dance a little in my seat while I'm listening to them.  It's free so you have no excuse not to check it out (but seriously, make a donation to these lovely gentlemen...they deserve it).  Oh, and all you NYC kids, go see them play on Saturday!  You can find all the details here.

3. Sun Dried Tomato Laughing Cow Cheese

I've been on a "must look nice in a bikini" healthy eating kick lately and I've been all about Sun Dried Tomato Laughing Cow Cheese as an afternoon snack.  It's delicious with a few Ritz Crackers and some fruit.

4. Yelp

I've been trying to get better at writing Yelp reviews lately.  I already use my blog to share the Stuff I Like so why not spread the love on Yelp as well?  I've been slowly finding other bloggers that use the site too.  Are you on Yelp?  If you are, let's be friends!  You can find me here.

5. Lunch Dates

It's a rare day when I can sneak out of the office long enough to enjoy a real sitdown lunch break but, today I was lucky enough to hit up Lincoln with my friend L.  There are few things better than an hour of girl talk and good food to break up a busy work week.  I'm definitely going to make an effort to do this more often!

Cubicle Chronicles

My department recently moved floors and I'm sitting in a cubicle for the first time since I started working (even with my internships, I've always been in a shared office or behind a reception desk) and it's definitely an adjustment...not a bad adjustment but an adjustment nonetheless.  There's more background noise and I can't just turn to my right anymore to tell my coworkers a funny story.

However, I now have MASSIVE amounts of space all to myself.  Obviously my first thought has been how to decorate.  Here are some items on my wish list:

Stockholm Storage Boxes
Black and Pool Mini Dot Pinboards
Rustic Cottage Frames
My cubicle wouldn't be complete with out some Pats gear!
I had an African Violet at my previous job and it seemed to do well inside but it only bloomed once.  Anyone have a suggestion about a good flowering plant to buy?

I think there will also be a decent amount of shenanigans in our cubicles which I'm excited about...yesterday we built a's fine.

What kind of office environment do you work in?  How do you put some personality into it?

Weekend Wrap Up

yeah...the picture has nothing to do with this post but it made me giggle.
Rach has officially moved next door to me and it's already been so much fun!  On Friday, we had a few beers and pulled the pieces of her Ikea couch out of their boxes (and we totally left the assembling part for the men to tackle the next least we helped a little, right?) before heading over to Murphy's.  I always have a lot of fun at Murphy's but this weekend was even more fun than was full of good friends, singing, and lots of laughs.

Saturday, I continued my quest to get invited on a yacht...and I failed AGAIN.  But I am completely determined to score an invitation from this guy by the end of the summer.  Instead, we sipped margaritas at Tony and Joe's and then hopped over to Rhino Bar to eat some dinner and watch the Red Sox.  Rhino is a Red Sox bar but for some reason, they weren't showing the Red Sox game on Saturday!  It was super disappointing since a few of my fellow New England transplants and I have been wanting to watch a game together all season.  Instead, we went back to Tony and Joe's, stayed until close, and admired this fail painting:

Please take a moment to notice that the ocean is at 2 different levels on the right and left side of the ship...rookie mistake.

I finally checked out my rooftop pool on Sunday!  I was able to soak up some sun and cross another item off of my Summer in the City list.  It's a tiny little pool but it was a great place to relax and read a book.

Last night, I caught the latest episode of True Blood.  Can we talk about how amazing Chris Meloni was!?  From Detective Stabler to a member of the was PERFECT.  Also, Eric in a top hat?  Let's discuss.  I was a fan.

I hope everyone else had a great weekend too!

Stuff I Like

1. Happy Hour at the Ritz
The Ritz Carlton's summer cocktail menu features boozy snow cones and they are a must try!  At $14 a pop, they're a bit pricey but they're a fun afterwork treat.  I opted for the lemonade thyme snow cone and it was delicious!

2. Hatfields & McCoys

This little lady was stuck waiting for some work documents to be finalized until 3:30am on Tuesday and it gave me the perfect opportunity to finish watching the Hatfields & McCoys.  Did anyone else watch it?  I thought the acting was fantastic and the story was interesting!  I'm definitely going to be adding some books about these two families to my summer reading list.

3. Color Club Disco Nap Nail Polish

My friend T lent me her Color Club Disco Nap nail polish a couple of weeks ago and I aboslutely love it!  I've been rocking it on my toes and the metallic gold looks great in a pair of open toed shoes.

4. Crowdtap Rewards

Are you a member of Crowdtap?  If not, I recommend signing up!  Not only is it a fun way to interact with brands and sample new products, they also offer great rewards.  I'm going to cash in my first batch of points for an Amazon gift card and I'm excited to use it to stock my Kindle with summer reading!

5. Alloy

I used to order clothes from Alloy in high school and then completely forgot about the catalogue until a few weeks ago when Alyx at Every Day is a New Adventure blogged about an awesome pair of jeans she scored there.  While all of Alloy's clothes aren't age appropriate, their jeans are FANTASTIC!  I ordered a pair recently and I'm really happy with them!  Plus they're affordable AND they come in long can't beat that!

Break-up Dilemmas

I'm officially two weeks post break-up and it's now time to start dealing with the little dilemmas that go along with it...

1. Shared Friends

Who gets custody of the friends?  It's been an easy split with the majority of our friends but there are a few blurred lines.  Is it ok to say yes when his friends express interest in still including you in plans?  As long as he's not going to be there, I feel like it's fine.  By now, I consider them all my friends too.

2. Ex Boys

I think my Facebook relationship status was single for about 24 hours before I heard from two of the guys I used to date...and I came dangerously close to running off to the west coast to see one of them.  There's an emotional vulnerability that I'm not used to dealing with but hopefully I'll continue to keep it in check and not make any rash decisions.

3. Be Friends?

I am fabulous at staying friends with exes.  One moved me into my apartment in NYC.  I've written to ones in the military while they're deployed.  However, there were always less feelings involved than this time.  I'm still trying to sort out if we can make a friendship work.  Do you ever stay friends or do you cut all ties?

4. Favorite Places

We have a lot of the same favorite hangouts.  I'm not quite ready to bump into him yet so I'm planning Murphy's and Tony & Joe's trips on days I know he won't be there.

5. Therapy Shopping

Source: via Aimee on Pinterest

In the past 2 weeks I have acquired 5 new dresses, 2 new pairs of pants, and 3 new pairs of shoes...IT'S FINE.

6. Stuff

via Jezebel: How to Get Your Stuff Back After a Breakup
Luckily besides a spare tooth brush and some make-up remover, the only thing that got left behind was my spare computer charger.  I've just decided to call that one a loss.

What break-up dilemmas have you faced?  How did you deal with them?
